Hi, I want to put a 5.6gig MP4 file onto a USB flash drive but I get a "Disk destination is full" message. The USB has 7.44gigs of space and I have even formatted but the file won't budge.

Any help or suggestions would be great :)

What file system is the external disk? You may need to format it to NTFS and try again.

If you wanted an alternate (and in my opinion far better) file copier try TeraCopy.

    ^What he said.
The USB is probably formatted as FAT32 which won't do anything with files above ~4GB.

Oh thanks people. You're right, it's formatted to FAT32. When I right-click it and go into "Format" there's no option for NTFS

    Btw, it's a Kingston Data Traveller 8gig.

What operating system are you using? In Windows there should be an NTFS option, if its Mac then you wont have an NTFS option, you'd need to use the Mac default file system, I think its HFS but not 100% sure on that either

    I'm on Windows XP.

I did a quick internet search and found that I had to go into the Device Manager to change an option to allow for NTFS formatting. http://lifehacker.com/5195783/format-a-usb-drive-as-ntfs-in-windows-xp

Thanks for the tips that set me on my way though, much appreciated :)

Hmm, now I've another problem . My PS3 won't recognize the USB. I've been transferring files to the PS3 via this flash drive and it's been working grand but it won't recognize it now.

I think the PS3 only reads FAT32. Curses!

Aye, ps3 and xbox's only read FAT32 storage devices.

Eh, maybe re-encode the video so it's smaller than 4 gigs or maybe split it in two so you don't lose quality maybe?

Here's a way to get around it.

Install ps3mediaserver and just stream the file to the ps3?

Your going to have trouble with video files that large, I've had trouble getting anything other than a PC to play files that large. Even when streaming.

Thanks for the help. Can't do the streaming thing. Might see if I can split it so or possibly burn it to a DVDr.
