Mercedes C180 '07 - Bonnet Release Catch

    Hi folks,

My parents have a C180. Up to recently, you pulled the lever in the cabin then pulled a T shaped lever that popped out through the grille and there you are, bonnet open.

That black T lever isn't popping out any more. Has anyone come across this before? If so, how the hell do I go about fixing it?

It's fairly urgent as the windscreen wash is empty and we can't get the bonnet open.

    Cheers!

I work on mercs day in day out and I can tell u that the leaver that comes out through the grill is either broke or seized. Seized seems likely as its common does the bonnet slightly still pop wen u pull the handle in the car

It does indeed and when I try and close it, it closes a little bit bit there's a noticeable gap still between the bonnet and the lights which I can't get to close.

    What's the remedy?

You need a long screw driver to go in through the grill to find out if the catch is broke r just stiff.its normally stiff and u should be able to work the catch out after the lever in the car is pulled.so if u get wat I'm trying to say use the screw driver in through the grill to push the lever out then when the bonnet is open loads of heavy oil and anti seize grease on the locks and all

Right I'll give it a go today and see how I get on. Will let you know either way.

    Thanks a mill!

Turns out the T catch was broken off by accident by the mechanic who did the last service on it.

It's still openable by putting your hand in through the grille and releasing the main catch.
