Cycling in Dublin?

I'm moving up to Dublin for six months in April and would prefer to cycle to and from work.

I've only been to Dublin twice and both times got buses/driven so didn't notice how the place was for cycling so I've got a few questions.

I'll be cycling from the Sandyford area to the Heuston Station area, does anyone cycle this route, I'm just wondering is it mostly flat or something else?

How are other road users? I mainly cycle in Cork and they're fine, give me enough room mostly pass when it's safe etc is this the same in Dublin?

Any other commends, tips or suggestions welcome :)

Sandyford to Heuston is far enough, probably further than most Joe Soaps will do, but around 12km, which seems to be fairly typical of people here.

It's not hilly, though it's much like my commute - coming out of the city is almost flat but very slightly uphill and the last 1 or 2km have more hills than the rest, but nothing bad or insane.

Drivers are probably no worse than in Cork tbh. Though you may be dealing with more traffic than you're used to, in which case you just need to ride like nobody can see you or is thinking about you. Once you've done your route for a week you'll get to know the common spots where drivers are likely to block you or not look out for you.

Use google maps to find the best route, it'll probably be a mixture of the driving and walking routes.

Brilliant, thanks for your help! Sandyford to Heuston would be the furthest I'd have to travel so just wanted to be safe. Will probably end up being about an 8km commute.

Also any shops in Dublin that I could drop the bike in for a service in the morning and collect that evening, near Heuston?

There's a bike shop close or in Smithfield, never got a service there.
