Hi guys, Im thinking of making a purchase of these guys int he coming week...

Has anyone any history of dealing with them, they are resellers for fleet and finance companies in the UK...

    http://www.carshop.co.uk/why-choose-us

They specifically mention that their cars come with a full HPI check and a 144 point check... should I take this with a pinch of salt, or would they be reputable??

I bought our main car 3 years ago from them (and still have it), you will literally laugh when you see how well-presented their cars are and when they say they only take the cream of the cream of the ex fleet cars they mean it

I would highly recommend them, I can only speak from what I seen but our car had full service history from VW, it had the VW Garage History detailed printout, it had the 144 point check, it was fully serviced leaving. One thing to note is a lot of their cars are sold with 60-80k miles which is fine but remember some will be due timing belts. I saved 3k the time I bought with them.

One thing I really liked is that ex-fleet will more than likely have been owned by companies too big to be fiddling mileage etc, and carshop.co.uk are too big to be fiddling the motors they sell on.

    I can second Joefish1's recommendation.

Bought my car from their Swindon branch two years ago and was very impressed.

One thing to note.. they will not haggle even for a £. I took a chance on the car I was after and waited for about three weeks. Next thing it was £1,000 less on their site and I hopped off it!

yeah I noticed that they are resellers for 3rd party comanies and they have the cars on 60 day sale or return, so the cars drop in value after 30-40 or so days....

Would ye guys have got an independant mechanic to assess the car beforehand? I'd be wary of buying a crashed car

I sent in the RAC who did a comprehensive 150? point check including a test drive and they gave me a full report. I rang the mechanic that did the report and he discussed it with me for maybe 10 minutes. He mentioned a couple of minor dents in the bodywork. Even when I went looking for them I couldn't see them!

It cost about £240 but I thought it money very well spent.

I comitted to buying the car and the first time I saw it in the flesh was when I went to collect it.

very interesting, I seen these services online and thought of doing the same thing. I was going to reserve the car untill next thursday maybe in the hope that a mechanic could review it by Tuesday. I know its the car I want etc, so once I get the report I can go ahead and collect it.
