A total noobie question and sorry I cannot figure it out :o

I have photoshop cs5 extended which I use to touch up photos and also for saving for the web.

I want to print them out to put into a standard picture fame 5x4(this standard?) for Miss Gunner. Tried the google route and have wasted printing pictures that will not fit

The details on the photo are below. What can I use to print out this picture so it fits in frame without cropping or loss of image quality. Printer is Canon Pixma ip4000 and rarely I print out pics

    Thanks

If I am reading this correctly I think what you are asking is impossible. The ratio of your picture appears to be 4:3 and therefore will only print without cropping in that ratio eg in a 8x6 frame etc.

To fit into any other ratio you will need to crop to that ratio which if it is 5x4 (standard usually 6x4). Do this by selecting the aspect ratio when using the crop function rather than doing any image resizing etc.

Once the image is the right ratio just use the right size paper and set paper size when printing and I will print as appropriate.

    Hope this helps

    5x4 is this size -

(Paint.net, but the figures are the same.)

Yes I want to print the picture and not remove anything from it. Have tried the crop option below.

    crop.jpg

When I select this it crops the sides or top/bottom is this what you where referring to? I don't want to loose anything but are you saying this is the only option?

Also when I go to print it gives me the below options

    Printoptions.jpg

Do I need to change the settings here under scaled print size?

    Kenny Logins

Also when I try to change the image size to what you have Photoshop adjusts all the other figures and it does not work?

    Cheers

Yep you'll have to lose some of the image to get the aspect ratio correct (or you could stick it ina white 'frame' but that won't look good.

Make sure you have the same settings as Kenny posted (you have your PPI set to 180 instead of the correct 300 for instance).

You'll probably need to turn off resample image to get the same settings as posted.

6x4 would be standard, not 5x4. If you're using DSLR chances are it should take photos in 6x4 aspect ratio anyway. :)

Also, try to download Fast Stone Image Viewer. It allows you to crop photos to specific sizes and create your own non-standard sizes. It's easy to use, too. I use it to make sure my photos are to the right aspect ratios (6x4, 7x5, 8x10, etc.)
