Need Laptop

    Hi Guys,

Sorry but this is another need a laptop question. I'm moving to the UK next month and haven't a clue what to get. Not looking for a high spec one, I'm only going to be using it really for internet, skyping and just light stuff like that. At home, there is a Toshiba which I do like, but again I'm sure laptops are similar enough!

Any idea what would be the best option? Obviously don't want to be spending big bucks on something I won't use.

And would stores would be the best to buy from or would it be better again to get it online?

    Thanks :)

Rather than start another thread I am in a similar position to the above poster.

Lookin for laptop for the basics (NO GAMING), for i tunes, browsing (have wi-fi connection at home), music, movies, etc.

    Was looking at this:

Nooooooooooooooooooooo, this one is much better for €10 more. I wouldn't go below this one if I were ye. Oddly enough, it's a Toshiba. Double the HDD for €20 more.

    Or one of these!

Good machines posted, as with most things online is generally always cheaper (usually about 20% or more I find), another good site I've used twice now for good machines is http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/

Again if you don't want to game, anything you spend €400 on from a good company should do the job nicely. If your budget doesnt stretch that far its a bit more of a challenge to find something genuinely well built with nice specs. As a general rule, an intel i3 processor should do but try and get an i5 for a slightly faster machine. Try get 4gb of RAM (you won't need any more than that) and you shouln't need a huge hard drive unless you plan on downloading heavy amounts, 320 gb should do.

I prefer toshiba, but samsung and asus and hp are all nice too!

You may consider the chromebook or new aspire one.

Chromebook at €422:eek: comes with Atom processor, only 2GB RAM, a 16GB SSD and no HDD. Only use for this is browsing the Web.

Acer at €362, better, but I wouldn't waste money on one either.
