Was just wondering what the new regulations are and what you have to do before sitting the test for the full licence? I have the provisional now and I'm just wondering how much it will cost me from now until i have the full licence gotten altogether!

    Any help will do!
    Cheers

    These links should help.

    http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Learner-Drivers/The-Driving-Test/What-it-is/

    http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Learner-Drivers/Driver-Training/Car-Training-EDT/
(this is the 12 mandatory lessons you will need to produce before the test with a signed log book stating the same).

So depending on the price for the lessons (I was paying just under 40e) and the test itself (85), comes to around 565e. And that doesn't include tax\insurance on the car itself.

Very true! Will be working and saving from here until early next year for the car I want. I plan on getting a 1l box shape starlet to start off with which will be light on petrol, €150 for tax for the year and then insurance is around the 1500 mark in my own name at the age of 18 with a full licence! :D Hoping that this country don't start asking for more money off us :P

You'll be doing well to get insurance for that price at that age, even with a full licence. With a learner permit, you could be looking at around €1900+, ring around as many places as possible and get as many quotes as possible to find the cheapest - the cheapest company for one person is not necessarily the cheapest for another!

That's true I suppose! I was chatting to a friend of mine who got insured for around that mark for the exact same car in his own name with the full licence at the age of 18. I could always go down the road of getting insured as a named driver under my fathers name but I'd prefer to have my own insurance! Hoping all goes well I'll get it at a reasonable price! :)
