Thinking of booking a weekend away for myself & hubby (mid 30s). Can't decide Carlow or Kilkenny. Hotel nicer in Carlow (3*) but a bit close to home (not that that really matters but..)
Kilkenny hotel not as nice (4*). I know Kilkenny is more lively but was there a few years back and couldn't move with all the stag & hen parties
So 2 questions: Is there much nitelife in Carlow & is Kilkenny still as crazy as it used to be or where we just in the wrong area??
    Cheers

Nitelife in Carlow isnt great.. Kilkenny is much better.. you will find a pub to suit everyone.. there are plenty of pubs that wont even let the hens and stags past the front door.. eg, the dylan whskey bar on john st, langtons front bar, left bank etc.. i live down in kk 8 years and tend to avoid the stags and hens.. plenty of nightlife for couples.. wouldnt bother with carlow tbh..

Go for Kilkenny.. I live between Carlow and Kilkenny and also go to Carlow on a Saturday night but Kilkenny is a much nicer city to walk around..

There are some nice sites, and the castle park is nice if the weather is fine..

In terms of where to go out, try out the left bank.. suits all ages! Nice spot!
