Hi all, would appreciate some opinions

I have been seeing a nice guy for a couple of months - we get on really well. However it was clear from the start that he was just out of a long term relationship. Ive since discovered that the relationship was only finished a few weeks when i came on the scene. He has told me that he knew it was over a for a while before the actual break up.

My question is, am I better to cut my ties here before I start to really really like the guy?? I keep thinking about his ex and its preventing me from falling for him that little extra. Is it ever possible that he could be genuinely over her so soon?

    Thanks guys

Yes of course it's possible. Apart from timelines do you have any reason to think you are a rebound?

The same thing happened with my current boyfriend - he was just a few weeks out of his last relationships of about 2 years when we met. We're still together 4 years later! If he doesn't seem hung up on her, then I'd say you'll be ok.

He was also over the relationship before it ended, as the last year was pretty rocky for them from what I've heard. I believe she started dating someone fairly soon afterwards as well, though I obviously don't know if that lasted or not for her!

I'd say it depends OP- did he dump her or did she dump him? If he did the dumping, he's probably over her. If however, she ended it, it's a bit trickier I think.

While I'm not saying it can't work, I'd be a bit cautious and keep an eye out for warning signs- does he talk about her a lot, is he bitter about the break up and about her? Red flag, in my opinion.

If he says he wants to take things slowly, that's fine and I'd respect that. If, however, he starts saying he is not in the zone for a relationship, just looking for something fun, casual, etc, then I'd be gone in a flash.
