Has anybody had any dealings with them?

I was down with them today looking at a focus and it was the strangest dealing i ever had with a "car salesman".

Can i look at the car for sale?......"yes", but he get into it instead of me?

    Asked was it crashed?................"dont know"!

    Genuine mileage?........................"think so"!

How long has it being here?.........."a bit"!

Whats that broken screw in dash for?........."phone"!

Can i turn it on?..........."yes", then he turns it on!

What will i see if i do cartell check?..........."dont know"

I then lift the bonnet and see the plastic cover is missing, i ask is it missing the plastic cover?........."yes"

Right whats the best price?............"that price".

At that time i said thank you and goodbye.

I thought the idea of a salesman was to sell, it was like trying to get blood from a stone, never again.

It was like he didn't want to sell it, very strange.

Bit of an obvious answer to your question. Plastic cover is missing and you asked was it missing?:p:D

But being serious you were right to walk away it is entirely his own fault. What an idiot...

We'd be regular customers of the place and can't really fault them at all. Reckon you must have been talking to one of the younger lads or apprentices who just didn't know his stuff.

I deal with clients everyday in my job and irrespective of how awkward or difficult some of them can be, there is still a level of professionalism to be had with them. If my employer heard me answering those questions in that manner, my next conversation would be with the person behind hatch 2 down the dole office.

If the guy doesn't have a basic understanding of customer relations then his employers should not have him in a position where he is interacting with them.

Think I know the guy, did he look like this?

Unfocussed? Edgy? Making car noises a bit like C-3PO ?

I appreciate that, I'm just saying that in my experience, having a bad interaction there would be out of the ordinary, having had many over several years with four different cars belonging to both myself and my Mam - who thinks they're God's gift. They don't proffer a huge amount of information but that's just the way they work - certainly they won't in my opinion be trying to screw anyone over.

I'm the sort of person who prefers structure,a price list, proper communication with the customer - so it's not my favourite sort of place. They're the sort of mechanics who will take they keys off you, say "leave it with us" and they will look at what needs to be done and call you with a price. In fact I really, really dislike that way of doing things. But while I prefer to know exactly what's going on and certainly don't use them for everything my car needs because and prefer the likes of a drop-in service like Atlas or the like, I still go back there because I know at the end of the day the job will get done right, because the lads will allow me pay when I can if I don't have it straight away, and because I know enough about cars to know I've never once been overcharged - which is more than I can say for some other crowds (Like Opel, who wanted to turn a €400 paint 'n filler job into a €2,000, "replace two whole doors and screw the young driver on insurance" job.)

As for selling cars - my mam has had one of their cars since December and used it every day and only handed over the cash this week. Sound, eh?

In your opinion. But I've dealt with them before thought they were grand, they're there a while so whatever they're doing seems to be working for them.
