Are you looking for screen and camera or just camera? I've seen some good reviews on the reversing camera from Maplin:

    Hi
this is the unit I use, greatly reduced in price in the six years since I bought it,and although it is crt and black and white it works very well and has one great feature I dont see on modern ones it works with two cameras, switchable, and you can decide if one or both are set as mirror.
I have one camera high on the back showing my rear bumper and the other on a clamp that I can move around. As my van is lhd I put the camera facing right at the back to see when I have cleared the shed or gatepost and when emptying the grey water its great to put the camera just over the outlet and watch bystanders wonder how you can find exactly the right place to stop when using a small grating.
    Ps both cameras are IR

    Hi
I find the screen size to be fine,I can see all the things that matter. The landed price seems high but I suppose the sterling difference is high at the moment.Any other units would presumably have the same uplift.

I bought two sets from this crowd, good prices and they deliver here - http://shop.reversingcamerasuk.com/

Fitted to two Land Rovers, we used monitors that clip into the rear view mirrors, more intuitive to use and doesn't clutter the dash with a monitor. Had to make new mirror mounts otherwise they were two low.

I got the same camera from eBay for half the price. Have it hooked up to a Kenwood DVD player.

Worked grand for the first 12 months, but lately it seems to be becoming a bit temperamental. Works fine most of the time, but occasionally the picture is too blue or purple, sometimes with no picture at all until I turn off the ignition and back on again.

Can't really complain since it only cost around €15 to the door, will probably get another one to replace it as I like how discreet it is.

Nice work! Looks very neat, have you got the camera wired up to the reversing lights or a live feed? I've a few jobs to do on the van first but this is definitely on the list in the next month or so!

There's a wire on the headunit that would allow me to have it switch on automatically when reverse is selected, but I wired it up direct so that I can turn on the camera whenever I want. Very handy for keeping an eye on the caravan when it's behind me :)

    Which ones did you get?

I'm looking at one for a camper, with zero rear visibility so i'd never be using the glass mirror anyway...

I got this camera and this screen (fits over rear-view mirror) and it worked a treat.

Hooked it up to the 12v electrics (split from a light) and attached a switch ensuring that no power goes to the camera or screen unless I want it to. Just in case the leisure battery dies.

It cost feck all in the end - £42.60 including delivery. I took the switch off an old desk lamp.
