Bought a skoda yeti last year and the dealer wanted €350 for a spare wheel and jack. Told him to feck off. Got a good deal at the same time - compared to others who were not looking for Amy extra. My question is, does anyone know what type if rim would fit it if I went to a scrap yard looking for one? I have tried a vw passat (2001) and it doesn't fit. Any advice appreciated.

Firstly, you're a tight wad:D you buy a new car and then moan about a spare wheel!
    I'm only joking.
Your problem is....the PCD which is the size code for the wheel bolt spaces on the wheels.
The 2001 Passat had (I think) a PCD of 5x100 whereas your Yeti (again, I think) has a PCD of 5x112. if you take off one of the wheels the PCD will be stamped into the back of the wheel somewhere.
The mk 2 Octavia, the Mk 5 Golf etc have PCD's of 5x112. once you establish what size exactly you're looking for on the Yeti, you should have no probs picking up a spare.

As above, any wheels from later model 5 stud VAGs will fit.

Brake calipers won't be an issue?

Just make sure to get the same rim size as is on the Yeti.

You bought a €25k Skoda and you're worried about paying €350 for a spare!
    The mind boggles!
Anyway have a look online for someone selling a VW alloy with the right spacing I often see people not selling 4 and just an individual wheel

Do you have the wheel brace and Jack? I'd think the jack is fairly specific to the model to fit the mounting points.

    a 01 passat should have a pcd of 112

Exactly... €350 will probably end up seeming like a bargain!

Still though it's only Skoda not BMW or Audi where such things are considered extras.

same part number as fabia and looks same as a tt in the family so i'm guessing you'll safe with any current fabia - octavia - golf jack,

(ps i think your totally right not to pay 350 for a spare wheel, it isn't even a 5th alloy, it's a full size steel wheel even if you have alloy's)

Don't you also need a new boot floor?

All sounds like a major hassle to o around buying the package from the dealer!

The car is equipped with a get you back on the road system some goo or some such? The skinny spare Isn't designed to be used for extended periods of time not at speeds above 80km/h and a full size probably won't fit in the wheel well

How often do you get punctures I do a lot of mileage and the only punctures I've had to date have been
1.) A half bottle of wine with dinner and a multi storey car park kerb and
2.) A giant nail that required a repair
