I got one of these in CompuB in Swords -

    https://www.speckproducts.com/macbook-cases.html

A plastic hard case for the laptop. Not a case, but more a casing.

have one of those speck cases, took it off again pretty smartly.

Made the laptop a whole lot heavier. Bit worried it would put extra strain on the hinge too with the added weight.

Get a nice neoprene case can't go wrong! apple have a nice selection of case have a look there and get it cheaper somewhere else! :P

I'd recommend the Case Logic sleeves.

They are half the price on eBay compared to bricks and mortar stores.

I'd also recommend the Speck Products SeeThru SATIN shell - they are slightly lighter than the Speck Products SeeThru shell.

Word of advice when it comes to cases with zips, they can scratch the side of the macbook with zipping/unzipping. And if you ever dropped the case, with the macbook in it, on the zip it would dent the macbook, it did it to mine a year ago.

I'd get a neoprene if you want to keep unwanted damage to a minimum

I recommend a Zagg Invisible Shield and a Neoprene case. Keeps the weight down, doesn't take away from the look and avoids scratches. Unless you want serious bulk, no case is going to prevent against drops and falls.
