Just bought an Exhuast from a scrap yard and when you shake it you can hear its full of stuff. Is that normal?

yep, it is either loose carbon a bit of rust from the internal baffles breaking down.
a new one wouldnt do it but if you went the scrap yard route then cost was probably an issue.
if the box itself is good dont worry.

Could be a broken Catalytic converter?

If it's been standing any length of time in that scrapyard, it'll have been a waste of your €90, because of corrosion and breaking down of the baffles. The sound of loose stuff in it would indicate that it's well on its way to this. An exhaust is one part I wouldn't bother getting from a scrapyard and definitely not at 1/3 of the price of new, unless I was getting rid of the car sharpish of course.

It's a 50/50 chance I've done it a few times and got cought once r twice ended up buying new after second hand.sometimes u end up paying twice.just make sure the cat is good r if its a back box just make sure it's not f**ked

is there any handy way of sorting out loose baffle in an exhaust. I definitely have a loose baffle and was wondering if there was any way to sort it other that with a beating it with a rubber mallet until the rattle stops? Car is worth f*ck all so don't fancy forking out for a new rear silencer

    Cheers

Rubber mallet? Engineers ball hammer ftw!

If I were you (I've been there) just cut off the old box and replace it with another one or a straight pipe.

I once got a box from a scrapyard for a fiver, welded a pipe with a sleeve, some mounts, clamped it up and away I went :)
