Is the main road in the Phoenix Park still closed?

    Is the main route through the park (going toward Blanchardstown from town) still closed?

    AFAIK, Yes its opened once again.

    cheers, not 100% but a work collegue comes in through it everyday, just heard her mention it in conversation that she came through it.

    Yeah that bit has been open since December 23rd.
    Fingers crossed that the remainder is open within the next week.

    That section is still closed as of this morning but they brought in a fleet of rollers this week and finally appear to be laying the new surface.
    I'd be hopeful we'd be back in business by the end of next week at the latest.
    It's been a nuisance for the last 4 months.

    Good news insofar as the Ashtown gate and Cabra gate are now open both ways to traffic as of noon today.

    I was surprised to see that they have resurfaced the centre of the road but have left the rocky, battered and pot-holed cycle lane at the edges.

    I assume this was to save money, but I can't imagine they saved an awful lot.

    Maybe they might have some money to resurface that this year.
    It was great going through the park this morning. Massive difference.
    However, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up resurfacing other stretches, particularly the stretch heading up the hill towards St. Mary's Hospital from the Chapelizod gate. It's in very bad condition now.
