This sort of unit seems be to very unknown to me until a few days ago on Boards. I discovered about a thread is related to the review of Free Travel Scheme in the C&T forum.

The proposal link provided on the Central Expenditure and Evaluation Unit (CEEU) Proposal is displayed below

An important thing proposed in the report is the incorporation of the TV Licence Fee into the Household Charge. We'll definitely know that this charge will increase until Budget 2013. IMO, an earlier announcement into this would be great provided there was more detail from the government.

An Post do provide the TV Licence for a charge of €160 for residents, However I understand that is provided for free for a person who is entitled to claim the Household Benefits Package.

Even the HBP is proposed to merged with free gas/telephone allowance, fuel allowance, bottled gas allowance, electricity allowance are to be merged into a single household utilities payment.

Even with the HC, this could mean the possibilty of different rates could be applied to certain people as well.

Agencies being proposed of being removed or merged are the likes of B.I.M., The National Gallery Of Ireland, IMMA in Kilmainham, and The Crawford's gallery of Irish Art. The Irish Film Board is another surprise too.

I started to read that link until I got to the part where it was stated that it was the views of the people in the unit and not the views of other people in D/PER or Departments or Agencies. As such it is the views of a small group of people in an ivory tower.

That being said, it may contain some interesting ideas but they should be taken with a grain of salt as they would have neither line Department backing nor political backing.

Will read it over the next week or so and might come back to the thread if there is something interesting.
