    Dear ADI

Please note that with immediate effect the rule whereby a category ‘EB’ (car or light van & trailer) test candidate must hold his / her learner permit for 6 months prior to undergoing a practical driving test in that category, has been revoked. Therefore test applicants in category ‘EB’ no longer need to wait 6 months before sitting their driving test in that category.

This applies to both anyone who took out their category ‘EB’ learner permit in the last two years, or anyone who takes one out in the future.

RSA information resources (web site etc) will be amended to take account of this changed rule.
