    Thanks

Thomann bundle it into the LP section but you want it to sound like a Les Paul, it won´t! The basswood body will give it a distinct sound. But then again, that might be what you´re looking for.

At that price point, there are many ´Not-quite Les Pauls´ - LTD, Charvel Desolation, even PRS SE Single Cuts.

But if you´re after the quirky vibe of the Hagstrom, then go ahead. It wouldn´t be my thing though.

please do. I am thinking of getting one, but would be buying based on reviews, youtube reviews and forums such as this.....

What type are you getting. Paul from guitar world gives the Viking a good review on youtube.....

Worried about the bridge myself, how well the guitar will stay in tune, but I have not heard anything bad yet. What would make you go for it over a Sheraton II for example (not to go off topic)

As he does every time he reviews a guitar on youtube. Must be hard to make negative comments when he relies on marketing money from these brands...

I think its the quirky vibe thats drawing me to it alright (I've a bit of a soft spot for spalted maple tops :o)

I was looking at a few LTD models but the only model that i liked within budget has almost exactly the same hardware as my FX, and i want to get something a bit different this time.

The PRS SE is out of budget and i'm not gone on the Charvel Desolation.

Fingers crossed!!! Read some stuff that sometimes the finish is not 100% - but I guess that is the case wuth all factory produced guitars.

Never been a fan of spalted maple tops. They look kind of ghetto-chic to my eye. A lot of guitars in that price point have spalted veneers. I'd prefer the money to be spent on better woods for the body and better hardware. But that's how I roll.

I'll agree the finish isn't everyone cup of tea :D

To throw a spanner in the works any taught's on this, i know i said i was going to stay away from LTD in an earlier post but there is something about this guitar that i like and seeing as i already have an LTD that was around the same price bracket maybe better the devil you know and all that!

You could also take a look at Vintage Icon Series LP-style guitars. By all accounts they're great guitars for about €50 more than that ESP. Look for them on Thomann.
