WWE Friday Night Smackdown on SyFy (SPOILERS)
    Taped for January 13, 2012
Daniel Bryan and Mark Henry jaw-jacked for a bit.Henry is banned from ringside for tonights main event, despite it being no DQ, as per Smackdown GM Teddy Long.

    2. Justin Gabriel def. Heath Slater in a battle of former Nexus/Corre tag team partners. I think Drew McIntyre has even won more often than Slater the last six months....
    3. WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes def. Ezekiel Jackson.
    4. Ted DiBiase def. Drew McIntyre.
    5. Sheamus beat Jinder Mahal.
    6. Brodus Clay aka Funkasaurus def. Tyson Kidd.
    7. David Otunga def. Santino Marella
    8. Divas: Tamina def. Natalya Neidhart.
    9. Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus is announced for next week's Smackdown.Barrett says he'll win the Royal Rumble and go on to WrestleMania. Not if Randy Orton has anything to say about that.
    10. No Disqualification match for World Heavyweight Title: Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show went to an apparent no contest. According to our reporter, they did an angle where Bryan's girlfriend AJ Lee came out with him, only to get hurt during the action from the Big Show. They took AJ out on a stretcher. This could be yet another building block for a full-blown Bryan heel turn, considering he put his tiny girlfriend in harm's way during a no DQ match with a giant. Makes sense....
The good news for Bryan is he looks to be champion at least until Royal Rumble, where he presumably defend the belt against Show and Henry in a triple threat match.

The last time he cried was 2/3 months ago. Your point?

we all know Show is a big softy.

Apparently Bryan got a fair bit of heat tonight from the crowd.

Also can't wait to see Barrett vs Sheamus next week. Should be a good match.

I think he actually cried at TLC. Surely the low point of his 45 second reign as champion.

So it should it is the biggest male on the roster accidently hitting the smallest female on the roster due to the actions of Bryan.

I despairingly read people on another forum bemoan how lame it is to have the match stopped and Big Show be fine with not winning.

the reports I read was that there were You Suck chants at the start of the show (Henry Bryan segment).

loving the idea of a Heel Bryan though.

but i hope they dont turn him to a similar moaning complaining heel like they did with Christian

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

WWE only knows how to book two style of heel champion; either your a dominant monster who plows through the faces who can only win with interference from a bigger monster (Or Cena) or you're a chicken**** who runs away from the faces. Bryan doesn't fit mould one so it's the Christian character for him.

Also, YEAH BRODUS! Can't wait to Youtube that...

IMO Danielson always worked far better as a heel, in ROH anyway.

If they can recreate the type of heel he was around the time of the CZW feud, it will be money. Unfortunately though, I fear he will be booked like Jericho leading into WM18.

Is Drew fired or not

Yeah they shouldn't go the cowardly heel route with him as much as book him to be so good at what he does that he's arrogant about it. More of a subtle heel than a fully blown one.

Would like to know this too. As for Show crying come to think of it he does cry way too often. Thinking about Big Show running into AJ, i'd say he weighs 6 times what she does she is tiny maybe even 7.

would there be much significance in how and who Drew's losing to?

not yet...Teddy keeps phrasing it so it sounds like he may be fired when he loses his match but stops short of actually telling him "lose and your fired"..e.g..lose your next match and you'll be on very thin ice..I'll have to re-consider your contract..etc (not his exact words..I'm working from very poor memory here)

I was sure Teddy said lose your match and you are fired or was it could be fired

At least Bryan is still champ, pity he'll be turned into Christian 2.0

If he keeps the title til Mania I wonder who he'll face?Sheamus maybe?

Though can't see him getting through Elimination Chamber with it to be honest.

I'd love Sheamus vs Bryan for the title at Mania it'd be justice after they were scratched from last years show, wishful thinking perhaps. I do expect Bryan to retain at the Rumble probably in a triple threat vs Show and a injured Henry.

Rather than sit through two hours, here's the bit everyone is really interested in from tonight's show...

I had to lol at the big cheers for Brodus, but the crowd sitting there with no reaction whatsoever :pac:

Tyson Kidd meanwhile, has to be worried for his job right about now. Cant see him lasting much longer following that.

Hmm I can see Brodus amusing me less and less as the weeks go by. But for the moment it's reasonably amusing!

Brodus Is great more of him. and is that the quickest squash of a wrestler?
Tyson must not have much of a future

The quickest in a wile anyway, I'd imagine.

I remember a match a good few years ago that was literally bell, small package, bell. Four seconds I think was the official time. For some reason, I'm thinking Road Dogg.

Daniel Bryan is really good on the mic at the start and his expressions tell a great story too. He is really stepping up and performing like a star.

This angle ruled the earth. Bryan was awesome tearing strips off Show in the aisle way with an OTT guilt trip:

Is it just me who thinks is amazing how badly they have screwed up Show over the years? The guy is ginormous, he should be killing people for fun (babyface or heel), not crying every few weeks and being made to look like a pussy.

Wrong thread to make this point in. ;)

Got a fit of laughing at the end there,my brother said it'd be gas if Bryan laid down on the stretcher instead of AJ & asked to be taken away. Did Bryan get the chair punched into his face or am I wrong.

Show nailed his performance, his acting skills are really good. Bryan played his part to absolute perfection also. I wasn't sure how it would play out when I read about it during the week but after seeing the finish it was really well done imo.

I wonder will they have AJ as a heel too where she was in on the plan with DB or just use it to further Bryans heel turn as he didn't care about AJ at all. Looking forward to next week and another championship match.

managed to avoid the rest of the spoilers during the week and enjoyed the show, cody's ring walk and talk was good. They are really promoting the rumble well.

Ive seen people expand on both points. But I think it is the latter just look at the first gif. Bryan doesnt even push AJ out of the way or tells her to move judging our vantage point. He saved his skin at the expense of her.

I was expecting Bryan to run back and grab his belt. Poor AJ though Show was sweating buckets as he wept over her hope it didn't drip on her. Twas well done.

Angles like this are tricky to pull off and the fans unsurprisingly gave it a bit of stick but I thought it was good. D-Bryan really played his part well at the end screaming in Show's face and I like that they are taking their time with the heel turn.

The implication is that Bryan asked her to take a fall off-screen thanks to that earlier segment when he questions how much she really loves him. Could indicate a heel turn but I hope they're just playing it as AJ being into a man who's no good for her.

Also hope the outcome of all this Aksana nonsense is McIntyre getting Long suspended for being unprofessional to justify Long stringing out whether he's firing McIntyre or not. Otherwise his non-commital attitude to firings is pointless. And of course it wasn't Aksana at the door, the music didn't play! It'd be cartoony and most people would hate it, but when they're done with it, just pan across to see Hornswoggle playing a saxophone and Long (or somebody) tells him to knock it off. ;)

Big Show was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing. Honestly enjoyed him more than Brodus. Fellow DB ripping the piss out of him and calling him a bastard was excellent but Big Show played his role to perfection.

The slow-mo replay was like watching somebody bounce on a trampoline.

I thought Show was going to fall on AJ after knocking her out :p but very good ending to SD
