Dell XPS 720 Vista RAID help

    Hi Folks,

What a few days. Been recovering a friend's raid array that decided to break. It's been a nightmare, as what happened was the BIOS corrupted, which then damaged the MBR and partition table, making the original discs non readable at present.

Had to rebuild from original discs, which has been a total nightmare, due to a whole clatter of gotchas. It's been rebuilt with a RAID5 array, at least that way there's better security of the data,

Took for ever to reload Vista, then all the patches, then migrate it to RAID5, as the disc with the machine wouldn't load to a RAID array from boot. All part of life's rich tapestry.

Anyway, pretty please, need some help.

The original pair of 360 Gb drivers were a striped RAID0, and while they were not readable in Vista, they should be recoverable.

What I'm looking for is a hex image of the MBR and partition table so that I can look at the discs I have here, and hopefully repair the boot and partition information so that they can be accessed more effectively by some of the recovery packages.

I've got image copies, so I'm not at risk in that respect, and it might mean I get to recover some of the files that were on the array when it failed, as it hadn't been backed up for a while, and there are some files there that my friend would like to recover if possible.

So, as Dell seemed to sell quite a few 720's in Ireland, anyone out there than can help me with this, as it's not on the disc that is supplied by Dell, if you rebuild from the VISTA disc, you don't get a 3 partition disc, only a basic VISTA, which is not how it came from the factory.

I'm pretty sure that the MBR and partition is effectively only on the disc that it's live with, and in my case, because it's been corrupted, I can't access the diagnostic or recovery partition at the moment, so that route isn't open to me.

    Thanks

    Steve

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
