Work Experience

    Hi everyone,

I'm currently doing a PLC course in Retail Management and a requirement for the course is to obtain two weeks of unpaid work experience.

The course specifies that the work experience must be carried out in a retail environment, and I'm just wondering does anybody know of stores in Limerick city that generally take on people?

Insurance is covered by the college and it's basically free work. Anybody have any suggestions ie Dunnes, Tesco, HMV or retail stores of that nature.

    Thanks :)

Get dressed up and try them all, go in around 9.30 on a monday and ask for the manager, have your letter of ins ready and photocopied as usually this has to be sent to ho before you start. Always try a store you shop in 1st in case they ask you any questions.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, we have been given an insurance form to take along to places we think may take us on. I have a fair degree of knowledge relating to everything electronics-related ie TV's, PC's, DVD's, Videogames etc so I'd prefer to try places such as Gamestop, Game, PC World, Currys, Xtravision and the like.

However, given the current climate anything would be appreciated.

I'm wondering would employers be a bit standoffish when it comes to work experience or would it be convenient for stores given it's basically 9-5 for two weeks with no pay?
