    Hi all,

I sold my car there on the 4th to a lad in Dublin, Im in Waterford, I got a bill for 12 euro from E Flow for the car, it was used twice over the M50 that day, and the late payment fee meant its now 12 euro, I rang them and explained the situation, he told me that he will put the fee on hold but that its down to me to pay it as its in my name, He told me to ring the guards to let them know, in case the guy was doing 150 all the way home gettin snapped by speed camera's all the way and the dept of environment to let them know youve sold the car.

I rang the guards and explained this to them and they were like dont worry it happens all the time, you sold it, its his now, if anything happens its easily explained etc etc,

However if thats the case then how come i cant say to EFLOW its not my car now and im not paying it, The guards told me it could take upto a month for the log book to be processed so whos to say that hes not going to be using the toll bridge for the next month and "FORGET" to pay the fee, The guards tell me dont worry about it even if hes speeding or snapped by a speed camera, yet EFLOW want to hold me accountable

    Surely theres something wrong there!

Anybody shine some light on this?

I made a school boy error of letting him send it off, I have signed and dated it with him, and he signed all the details in front of me, He seemed really genuine his father was with him and all and he seems genuine aswell.

Very nice altogether so i thought right ive signed hes signed, I dont think ill leave it to them next time, but it doesnt matter at this early point as the log book wouldnt have been processed so soon, and eflow called the dept of environment to see if its been processed and they said they hadnt received it yet, I rang the buyer and he said yeah he sent it and he would pay the fee, its just im busy enough without having to chase after this, the guards have been informed and i will ring the dept of environment 2mor, i guess its too late now! as in there will be no one there like now

Something similar happened to me, I was charged for a car I sold, but Eflow credited to my account for another car.

You can stick your car details in here to see if the change of ownership has taken place. https://www.motortax.ie/PSE/start.do?page=welcome
I wouldn’t expect it to happen after 6 day though.

I wouldn't be phoning anyone, the car no longer belongs to you and it was drove through the tolls by the new owner. You have told eflow this already, no point getting worked up over it now. leave it till the end of the month, chance are the buyer will have paid the toll anyway and all your phone calling will be for nothing.

is there any cctv near those tolls that might pick him up tearing along the motorway.?

Ive been onto the new owner, and he was like oh send me the notice number and ill pay it, I explained to him the fee keeps increasing so it has to be paid, I will stick rigidly to the fact that if the guards tell me not to worry about parking tickets or speed cameras you sold the car and thats that cars are sold every day and we get this alot, dont worry about it, So if the guards are telling me what sounds right then why arent eflow as understanding, they were very nice about it but i wont be paying anything, no matter what! i was very nice and curtious in my sale and the car was a steal,

Im just gonna annoy the hell outta the new buyer til its paid, I rang him this morn about it and he took the ref number, i rang eflow tonight and its still not been paid, His father had to pass over the bridge in a serperate vehicle so he musta paid it or forgot and got a letter today just like me,

I will get on the shannon tomor morn, To top it all off i sent back the insurance disc for a refund on the policy i just openned and they send me a letter back today to say we didnt get the disc, I sent it back saying i didnt lose it you did! they wanted me to sign a form to say i had lost it, I signed it but told them that it was sent in the envelope they misplaces it.

man its never smooth running selling a car!

But at the end of it all this must happen everytime a car is sold so im sure there wont be anything that bad happening!

Why on earth is it so hard for sellers to follow procedure and send off the logbook themselves.

Not a hope in hell would I let anybody drive off in a car I sold with the logbook in their hands. Any car I've sold I have the logbook in an envelope ready to go

OP ring the seller and let him know, see what he has to say

E-flow have no legal method of enforcing payment from you so nothing to worry about from your end.

if they take you to court for non-payment..... you state your case and claim your expenses for them wasting your time/money and effort in meeting the case.

In fairness this was the first time ive ever sold a car, so i hold my hands up and say yeah i made a mistake, however i still would have got that bill from eflow regardless cos according to the guards it will take upto a month to register, I wont pay eflow i will ring Shannon tomor and explain the situation, and then i will ring eflow back and tell them im not paying,

Its not the end of the world just the i have other things that keep me busy,

Happened to my sister after she left for Oz. Got about 8 fines and even solicitors letters and she was all after contacting eflow to tell them it was sold! Basically eflow don't give a rats ass about your dilemma and will try to bully you into paying.
What she did was contact the vehicle registration office (in mayo I believe) told them about it, they sent a letter stating the car had been sold and were awaiting paperwork.
She sent this to eflow (registered) along with the buyers contact info and told them that if she received anymore letters from them she would be contacting her solicitor for harassment! She's a solicitor herself and knew exactly what her rights were.
She never heard from them again.

I got an eflow bill for 6 euro after selling my Mondeo to a lad from ardee, Just paid it myself and that was the end of it. I would do the same if it was for 12 euro, just saying.

Fair play to you, I checked it out and it was bang on!

Vehicle Transferred to an individual on: 03/01/2012

    Notified on: 05/01/2012

    Vehicle Registration Certification awaiting issue!

Sound as a pound, you sorted this for me nice one!

I rang Eflow and they were like well if its like that then it should be okay, i have written down contested by your bill and we will try our own search again in 7 days, so it should be okay!

Eflow will be notified of the change of ownership. The fines will go to disputed, then transfer to the new owner. He will have a fresh chance to pay them off at the low value before they start incrementing again.

All sorted now, rang elfow today and owners details are now with Shannon, the sale has gone through and he will now have to pay the toll!

Okay, no need to get on your high horse and condemn all below your super intelligent level, you obviously havent made any mistakes and or misjudgements in life before.

Sometimes people make mistakes or misjudgements due to stress or pressure in their lives causing them to make an ill judged decission.

Thank you Mr Eflow man as i thought the guy was true to his word after signing the logbook in front of me my wife and kids and his father he sent off the logbook and paid the charge in the end.

'eflow: John' scares the **** out of me.

it's incredible to think that we (taxpayer, not <ffs - SNIP!>) paid 600million for that bridge after 'they' conveniently mis-projected traffic flow rates over the thing.

For 600 mil the thing should be made out of f*"cking gold!
