Just got a Sony A33, am I right that any lenses from the alpha range will fit and also the minolta lens fit, but also are there any good sites where you can buy generic lenses cheaper than the sony ones please?

Generic? Do you mean non-sony ones? Like Sigma, Tamron, etc.?

Yes, that are compatible with Sony.

Here's some from Sigma, Tamron and Tokina. Bought my 60D from this website. They ship from Hong Kong and will refund Vat/Import Duty if you get hit by it (I didn't) :)

Any A-mount (alpha) lens will fit. Sony, Tamron and Sigma are the main manufactures, but there's a few others too.

Also, the A-mount is the exact same as the Minolta AF mount (Sony bought Minolta's DSLR business and turned it into the Alpha range a few years ago), so there's loads of older Minolta (and 3rd party lenses) that will work with your camera too.

There's a really good resource for Sony lenses here:

    http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/index.asp

Basically everything that will fit on your camera is listed, with user reviews. It's very comprehensive.

Be aware that Sony also have e-mount lenses, for the NEX cameras. These won't work with the Alpha DSLR/DSLTs like the A33

I have an A77 myself, and a good few lenses. If you have any questions, just shout (on thread or by PM).

You mean extension tubes (for macro)?

I have a set of Kenko AF ones. Cheaper than a dedicated macro lens, but to be honest, I find them more hassle (and hence, less used). That said, you can use them with almost any lens, so they are versatile in that sense, and since they're cheaper than a dedicate macro, they're a good start.

I have a Sony 50mm 2.8 macro, and a Sony 100mm 2.8 macro. The 100mm one definitely gets the most use.

I've heard good comments on the Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro from other Sony users. Unless you can afford to get very close to your subject, a longer focal length than 50mm is probably best in most situations. Downside is a bigger lens.
