..according to Adam Schefter on Twitter. No link as yet.

Seems a strange one. He only had one season, lost his QB to injury and had DMac miss a large chunk of the season.

Very surprising but I guess the new GM wants to get his own HC.

EDIT: Reading up on it, it seems he lost the locker room. The Raiders also broke the penalties record and he had that ridiculous trade for Carson Palmer.

Not surprising at all really. Hopefully the first step of many to actually being a successful team.

Al Davis lives - and I am sure the Raiders just hate handing over those draft picks they paid for Palmer.

This is why the raiders don't get to have nice things. Wouldnt be surprised if he turned up as offensive coordinator in Kansas or Denver (if mccoy isn't back) as a "**** you" sort of move.

Very surprised if he went to Denver, he'd want a QB who can pass the ball. Not sure how he'd do at running the option.

Not a major surprise as although the Raiders suffered with injuries particuarly to McFadden they really blew a great chance to win the AFC West and make the playoffs. Never mind the constant penalties which smacks of lack of discipline and that really killed the Raiders at times this season.

Not really surprising in many ways seeing as Jackson gave away so much to get Carson Palmer and then missed out on the playoffs in a poor division.
After their last game of the season Jackson called out his defence and blamed them on the poor end to the season....seemingly forgetting that the buck ultimately stopped at his door and not the DC

So would I - if McCoy ends up with the Jags I could see the Broncos going after Rick Dennison.

The Raiders don't do discipline - never have.

Jackson did what Del Rio did many times, publicly lay the blame on the assistant coaches

So four defensive coaches got fired last week. I wasn't familiar with all the names though I know Ron Woodson was an assistant coach with the secondary

Not enough, Jackson has to go too

Do you think Dennison would leave the Texans? The fact him and Kubiak are good friends I really can't see him leaving to go back to the Broncos. Then again he did spend a lot of time with the Broncos.

Dennison isn't there that long, i'd say he'd stick with his old pal kubiak. Could see Jackson doing that based on his comments after his firing, he's mad as hell. Would actually be surprised if he doesnt land with a rival.
Comcast SportsNet's Henry Wofford talked with Jackson, who said he is shocked by what happened.

Jackson told Wofford that he was called into Reggie McKenzie's office and was told that the team no longer needs his services.

When Jackson asked why, McKenzie responded that he was starting from scratch and bringing in his own guys. Jackson also asked if he was being let go because of his coaching or his relationship with players. McKenzie would not provide details, but said it has nothing to do with his reportedly bad relationship with the players.

Said Jackson to Wofford: "Come on Henry, you know I did everything possible to keep my job. McKenzie said I was not in his plans for the future and he basically wants to gut this place."

Realistically though, i'd bet he lands in Kansas.

He should have been fired for the Carson Palmer trade alone.

Dennison is a Denver as you can get - he lives and breathes the place. He only went to the Texans because McDaniels didn't want him - and the Texans was the only place he would go to because of Kubiak. If given half a chance Dennison would be back in Denver in a heart-beat and Kubiak wouldn't stand in his way.

Not really surprised. Jackson went Al Davis-level crazy after the big guy passed away and unloaded the future of the franchise on a 31 year-old QB that hadn't took a down for about 10 months and who hadn't preformed at a level worthy of that value for quite some time. I said at the time a fit Campbell, even in a hypothetical situation where there was no cost involved, would have been a better option, and Palmer's decidedly average results bore that out. His major contribution was to rack up alot of garbage time yards, in all honesty. Whoever comes in has to stick with Palmer, though, and hope an off-season in the team can net some progress from him.

He took a gamble and it didn't pay off, he made his own bed.

As bad as Jackson was, you got to wonder who let him make that silly trade. Most Head Coaches would be told to get fooked if they wanted to give up so much for Palmer. I liked the fact the Raiders got Palmer but they gave up way too much for him. Jackson and whoever let him make that trade are to blame.

Who do you blame? Mark Davis has always stated he doesn't know much about football(I mean not on the level of a GM or HC) and has no interest in being heavily involved on the football side of things so when Hue came to him he was always going to go along with it and I don't blame him.

Surely he had guys around him that knew it was a bad idea. The Raiders CEO is a huge Raiders fan and she would even know it was a bad idea ye know.

According to this Mark Davis had Wolf, Madden and Herock as his advisors. Surely one of them could have told him by the way Jackson is making the wrong move here.
Wolf once worked for the Raiders under Al Davis. He is advising Mark Davis on football matters in the interim, along with former Raiders coach John Madden and former Raiders personnel man Ken Herock.

IMO this is part of Jackson's poor relationship with his players. He just saw them as robots. He saw the Carson Palmer from when he was at the Bengals. He seemed to believe he could just slot in because he fitted the system, ignoring practice, rhythm and everything else that goes with being a team. It worked for Farve at the Vikings but Farve never showed the signs of being washed up like Palmer did for two years in Cinnci.

Jackson was a fool to give up such an amount of loot for Palmer. He put himself on the hotseat automatically with the risk he took, when with his QB1 down he easily could have been excused for the team not making the playoffs.

Amy Trask might be a huge fan but she is purely their for the financial/business side of the organisation. They might have, but maybe Mark felt it was worth giving up for the chance of the play-offs. His Dad just died I wouldn't be surprised if he got a bit nostalgic and wanted to really make a push for the play-offs after that. It would have made a great story. It's not that bad of a trade either tbh.

True enough that is a fair point. But even by Raiders standards this season was a disaster in regards to lack of disipline and there is no question the dreadful lack of discipline was one of the biggest reasons the Raiders did not win the AFC West which was there for the taking.
