Just moved up from Cork and couldn't really go through all the threads at work but is the DART the best mode of transport if living just off merrion road by Sydney Parade DART stop? Tried the dublinbus website but it's not very informative and google maps lacks the public transport :(. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from Pearse to the hall so wondering it there's a better route by bus.

Also where can one acquire a leap card and is it worth it? Can one get a student leap card?

Not too familiar with the bus routes, but I would say it is only a 10-15 minute walk from Pearse to the NCH. I would imagine DART and walk would be the handiest option.

I think www.leapcard.ie is the place to go for those cards.

www.hittheroad.ie will help you figure out public transport in Dublin. Avoid the dublin bus website at all costs, it is designed by a committee of farm animals.

A dublinbike.ie card is probably a good bet if you've just moved here. There's a station just a few minutes walk from Pearse St and then it's a few minutes by bike to the dublinbikes near NCH.

    welcome!

Looks like a great site. Cheers.

PS - It confirms that Dart and walk is the best option. :)

At least you didn't get the 44 or 61 bus from Westland Row. Those buses would get you only one bus per hour on average.

Pretty awful timetables, I have to say.

You can take the 4 or 7 bus along the Merrion Road. It will leave you a little bit closer than the DART, on Merrion Square. If you're getting the bus every day, get a prepaid 5 or 30 day ticket, as it will be much cheaper then cash or leap. You could also walk from Sandymount to the N11 by RTE and get one of the 145, 39a or 46a. They will drop you right by the National Concert Hall, but it is a bit of a walk to the N11 from Sandymount.
