The IFI is doing a late night Horrorthon double bill from 11PM this Friday night: Jaws (the Spielberg original) + Intruders (2011 w/ Clive Owen).

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

There have been midnight screenings for grindhouse, exploitation, and cult movies in the past (and still). As well as those, certain big releases get midnight launches as well.

The IFI double bill looks interesting, but I don't think I'd class Jaws as horror.

Interesting you should mention that :)
I worked in UCI Cinemas in 2005/2006 and they always had me working most Saturday nights. Which at the weekend, the last movie would seat at 10.30pm. Follow 15 mins of trailers and depending on the movie people would leave between 12.15 to 12.45am. (but generally they always picked a movie that would end at 12.30)

Then I quit in 2006 but oddly enough I went to see a few movies with them in 2007 and the last showings were 9.30pm  It was before recession but I guess the choice was based on money.

I remember Cineworld showing midnight horror movies around Hallowe'en 2010.

Do cinenas in Dublin no longer do late showings at the weekend? In Galway the last screenings on a Friday and Saturday start between 11and 12pm ending any time from 1:30-2am.

Actually just checked UCI cinemas in Blanchardstown yesterday. On Friday nights that have showings all the way up to around 11.45pm. Thought late night showings was a thing of the past for them. I was wrong :)

it's curious that loads of boozers would'nt let me past the door at 18 yet not one cinema ever even questioned me on getting in from the age of 13...

    :pac:

    happy days! :)

Just look at their times on a Friday or Saturday and you'll see them.

Depends what kind of cinema your looking for. Some of the adult cinemas/sex shops which show adult films open past 3am.
