Hard plastic under tray, eh yolk...

Bought a 2008 Mazda 6, second gen recently.

The under tray yolk (really dont know what its called, its the part that stops rubbish hittin the under carriage of your car I suppose) has come off completely in parts and other parts are torn and fallin off causing noise etc when at any speed over 50km.

Now I tied up the places that are makin the noise at the front but parts of the panel in the middle are missing altogether and others are frayed and will need to be tied up or replaced soon or already need to be tied up like the parts I did myself.

So my question is should this have been / is a job for the garage I bought it off and if so how far should they be going ie repair, replace what?

Or if its not their problem (which I reckon it probably isnt their problem as I didnt notice it when the sale took place and didnt make it a condition to have it fixed / replaced ) what else can I do??

Mazda are quoting over €200 to have a new one fitted which sounds crazy to me

Or should I just keep tieing up the bits that need doing as I go? Do you need one really?

    Anyway what you think?

    Cheers

It's there to improve aerodynamics and keep road muck out of the engine bay. Aero will benefit fuel economy, though probably not by a huge amount, maybe 1%. If either issue is important to you, replace it.

I'd probably chance it with the garage I got the car from - it's a pretty new car, and it's a large item to be broken. Worst they can do is say no.

My advice to you would be to get a new or seconhand board and drill few holes on to it so when you put it back water can leak out of it.
If you do that new board wont fall out again. ;)
