I should be getting my first social welfare payment on Friday after loosing my job just before christmas.

I lost my social services card a long time ago and dont have one now but I have ordered a new one.

Can my payment be collected in the post office using driving licence/passport?

Plus how is it paid? Cash or cheque.

    Its job seekers allowance.

    Thanks all

You should have been given a temporary card for 4 weeks when you ordered a new card. If this has expired, or if you haven't got one, you'd best get a new temporary card. Technically speaking the Post Office should insist on seeing your card (as well as photo id), although its very much up to the individual working at the time whether this actually happens.

    You are paid in cash.

I think it's 'No card, No payment'

If you bring photo ID to the social welfare office, they'll give you a yellow temporary card which can be used until you get your plastic card in the post.
