Choice of Ward in Hospital???

I have a long term illness, and may need to be admitted to Specialist Hospital for a few days.

I have attended the same Hospital for years, and have always stayed on the same ward. My Consultant told me this morning, however, that due to a change in policy he can now ONLY admit patients to one ward.

I'm used to the other ward, its routine, staff, etc. There are problems with the "new" ward, not least of which it is dark and cold.

Can a Hospital do this? Can they insist that Consultants only admit patients to certain wards?

    Any advice/comments would be appreciated

I'd imagine it is up to the bed manager and that they would have final say.

    Thanks.

The hospital in question is John of God's - have always stayed on the same ward. the thought of changing fills me with dread, but for the moment anyway don't think that they will change the policy. I'm going to write to the director to see if i can find out what the rationale is.
