    Hi All
Just wondering if there were any open areas in Marley (other than the dog park) where dogs might be permitted to socialise together off lead? Was thinking of meeting up with a group of friends (20 dogs) and thought we might be too big a crowd for the dog park on a Sunday given that there'll be a lot of regulars.

    Thanks

Just the enclosed dog park for off lead. You could try going extra early particularly Sunday, i'm not certain what time it opens at.

Not officially sanctioned, but there's a "hidden" field which has no paths going through it so nobody ever goes into it. There's a mini railway track in it, so perhaps it used to be used for that purpose, but it just seems to be used for holding tree cuttings and building materials now.

It's not fenced off at all, so you will need control over the dogs, however it is bounded by trees and isolated from all walkers (you can see the golf course covers two sides).

As I say, not officially sanctioned, but I can't see a problem organising a big meetup there.

If you can't figure it out from the satellite images, you go in the back (College Road) entrance, and straight down the path past the football pitches and playground to the very end and then go left - it looks like you're not supposed to go down there, but you'll see the entrance to the field then on your right.

If you really want to keep it above board, no harm to contact the warden in advance and ask him if you can use the field for the meetup.

You need to be really careful - was out on Sunday & 2 people fined because had their dogs off leash in the main park area..

You can still let a dog off leash on Killiney Hill if you are close enough to there..

I always remember that (when I was younger and was smaller lol) as a mini train, it used to run in the summer months afaik. Not sure if it still does but it wouldn't be running at this time of year yet, so I'd be wary about using it even as a person with one or two dogs.

As mentioned fines are handed out for being off-leash so having a large group you'd definitely attract attention.

Marley Park is that you ? ? :P

I heard this morning that a cyclist was was attacked in St Annes Park by an off the lead restricted breed. Because of this they are putting more attention on dogs being off the lead.
