    Anyone used Joe Friels book "the cyclists training bible" or "total heart rate training"?

    Yup, some good stuff in the Training Bible but needs a couple of reads and a healthy does of common sense. Its also very good for showing you how to make a training plan. Also bear in mind, Joe is pretty much 'Old School' in his beliefs, and there are lots of 'gurus' touting more modern training methods, which don't involve hours of riding around in the small ring for the winter.

    Chris Carmichael, who use to shout about the LSD ( Long Slow Distance ) winters, has come completely around to more intensive and productive methods. Who's right ? Who know's ? But at least making a plan and sticking to it is miles better than heading out on the bike 'just to put the miles in'.

    thanks Murph. sounds like Friel is worth a read but the more productive approach seems more attractive.
