    Well Lads,

Just booked Lanzarote 20th-27th February. Staying in Puerto del Carmen and bringing the bike! I'm 'allowed' out from 9-1 each day . Anyone gonna be there by any chance? Some company would be nice!

I'm looking at Lanzarote from Feb 19th-26th. Have not booked yet but expect to in the next couple of days. Resort wise not sure yet, was gravitating towards Costa Teguise because if its windy I can do a bit of windsurfing there. I'd be looking at a few morning spins, not a big fan of cycling in the heat (or cold and wet either ... like last Saturday)

Bikewise Costa Teguise seems to have 2 places:

    http://www.tommys-bikes.com/
    http://www.lanzarote-bikes.com/contact.html

Has anybody by any chance had recent rental experience with either of these ?

Will probably fly with falcon travel, does anybody know how they deal with bikes if you bring your own ? Do they accept a bike bag as normal baggage ? Is there problems putting it in the luggage bays on the bus ?

    Thanks Paul.

i was in Teguise a few weeks ago its a grand base for cycling and windsurfing its always windy,i rented from tommys got a nice bike with 105 all round for under €100 for the week,he was suppose to have a carbon bike but the one he showed me did not fit me i suspect he had another carbon that would have fitted but he couldnt be bothered to go and get it,in saying that the bike i had was in perfect repair ,it was a major improvement on my hack bike i use at home in winter but with a 10km mountain to get over i needed all the help i could get.Just to note i would guess the routes on tommys website are taken from a car hire site so allow at least double the time
he is easy to find its at the end of the big carpark just off the main square the other one looks good to its on the boardwalk
if i was going again i would i would drop the bike shop a email just to make sure i got the bike i wanted
My trip was not cycling only so i ended up in the lighthouse most nights some good bands

i would love to go back for a bike only trip in the few weeks so if any one Fancy's it i would be the guide

Thanks for that, I will email him in advance. And as an aside good to know about the lighthouse. Was in Corralejo,FV couple of years ago and one bar in particular seemed to get very good bands. Was wondering if there was some place similar in Teguise.

BTW on the Thomson site they do talk about extra charge for oversized items and bikes are mentioned. Emailed them yesterday asking what the charge is but no reply yet.

Rang Thomson Fly UK and booked my bike on (you can't do it online). Bit cheaper than the standard airlines. Just need to pack it well now. Unusual figure due to sterling conversion.
