Thinking of moving to NCR

    Hi all,

I'm thinking of moving in to an apartment complex next to the entrance to the Phoenix Park on North Circular Road (at the top of Infirmary road). I am quite conscious that O'Devaney Gardens are across the road and have heard of certain undesirables living in some of the flats along NCR.

I know you will never get anywhere absolutely safe in the city but I just don’t want a situation where my girlfriend can't walk home in the evening/walk to the shops etc....

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks.

Why there so specifically. If you have doubts then don't do it.

I lived in NCR for 5 years (closer to Hanlon's corner). Personally, I always felt safe however, my flat was broken into once and my sister's car parked on the road for one night got broken into. However, my attitude is that it could and does happen anywhere. I liked living there as I was so close to all amenities (walk to work, shopping, socialising) but I would accept that there are probably safer areas to live.

As the other poster said, if you have doubts, I suggest looking elsewhere. Blackhorse Avenue or Navan Road nearby would be a little more affluent but not necessarily safer.

Thanks for getting back to me. We decided not to go for it in the end as we got somewhere cheaper. But thanks for the info.

A colleague is living behind O'Devaney Gardens at the Stoneybatter part and the amount of grief he has had is unreal. Alot was related to the car which has been repeatedly vandalised. I once dropped him home from work after his car was smashed and the place looks like Beirut on a drive through.
As your end of NCR is near here, do not go there. Move on.
