    Hi,
A group of 10 of us are doing a long weekend in Mayrhofen. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good value transfer. A minibus would be ideal.

    Thanks,

    D

Contact your hotel and ask them for a local taxi recommendation. They are likely to give a better rate than just picking someone online out of the blue.

Alternatively, you might get a group rate on the train, but in a group that size it's unlikely to be much fun. You need the u-bahn from the airport to Munich, then the train from Munich to Jenbach, then everyone changes there to the local line that goes up the valley to Mayrhofen. You can reserve seats on the train from Munich to Jenbach, but other than that it's a free for all.

Fourseasons transfers - just google them.

There are a few transfer companies that will do that run from Munich or as above hop on the train. You could also consider hiring a couple of cars maybe?

I got a train from Munich airport to Munich Ost then down to resort - was easy and hassle free. I also booked first class for €60 return with a big, reserved seat and a goodie bag.

Fiur seasons quoted 98 for transfers. How did you get it for 60?

flikflak said he paid that for the train. 1st class. Seems very good value if that's a return. I would expect to pay around that per direction.

Check out www.bahn.de and you can get prices for the relevant times. Note that certain times will be really busy (meaning expensive) as loads of people use that route into the Alps from Germany.

On a train door to door its about 3 hours from Munich to Mayrhofen. I was there last year, had to change trains twice ( once in the main munich station & the 2nd was close to mayrhofen ) but there was about 15 little stops after we changed trains the 2nd time, it was a much to be honest.
On the way back we got a private hire bus between 5, worked out about €70 each. I would definitely go with the private bus especially since there are 10 of you. You will get a good deal & far less hassel

donie, i did this transfer a couple of years ago and found a site that basically sends out quote requests to various companies. ended up getting a return transfer for a group of 6 for about €75 each. i'll try to dig out the link in work tomorrow.

    Have a look at this.
    http://www.a-bus.de/prices.html
Munich to Innsbruck is 222 Euro for 8 people. They dont give a price for ten but I guess its not that much more. Mayrhofen is not far from Innsbruck.

    Donadoni,
After serious web searching I eventually went with www.a-bus.de. They were the cheapest but it still worked out at €780 + €20 credit card fee so €800. This was for ten people from Munich to Mayrhofen return. They were waiting at arrivals when we arrived and they arrived in plenty of time to pick us up.
The only issue was their complicated booking process and the slow speed at which the responded to emails.
I heard the train costs €85 and involves 3 or 4 changes. It only took us 2 to 2.5 hours.

The real gem was the hotel we found http://www.harakiri-lifestyle.at/
It's a brand new building with a ski shop on the ground floor, a very trendy bar on the first floor and 2 floors of accommodation above that. It's really well fitted out and only 100m from the Penken lift. We got a deal of €59 pppn for B&B.

800 smackers is alot. I wonder had you rented a couple or renault espace's for the week how much would that be. Of course then you have the hassle of driving and navigating

I looked at the car hire option but it would have cost about 450 to 550 for two 5 seaters, then about €90 to €100 for petrol for 800km of driving for two cars. Then parking was €8 per night per car and I dont know how much tolls would be. There was great comfort in being collected and dropped off with no driving to be done. Sometimes you have to compare apples with apples.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, thats a hell of a difference to the 222 Euro advertised for 8 people to Innsbruck. Did they explain why it was so much more expensive? Saying that, it worked out about 80 Euro return each, for about 170 km which is not bad I suppose, considering they picked you up and dropped you off without any hassle.

I just checked out the cheapest options by train, and even with all kinds of low fair offers and simular things it wouldn't be any cheaper than what you paid for the minibus, as you already pointed out. Thinking about it, I have to say that that is actually quite amazing.

Hope you had a good time.
