Titlesit Fitting Carton House

Am looking for peoples feedback on Titleist fittings at Carton House. I already know I want a Titlesit driver so not bothered that there are no other brands.

I have heard some good things about Henry (did a search on here), has anyone been fit by him? What did they think? Do they use a Trackman? Good range of shafts etc?

    Thanks

Friend of mine got fitted for his ap2s about 6 months back, said it was great and very professional. Would go back again

    +1
I had a fit there about 3 months ago.
If you want Titleist gear then its fantastic.
Yes, they use a trackman and have a huge range of shafts etc.
Henry knows his stuff and is a really good guy to deal with.

If you book outside your pro is it true your specs stay with carton so you buy there?

Looking at a new D2 and 17 degree rescue

I got fitted there last Spring and found the process fantastic.

Booking was arranged via my pro-shop and I went for the full fitting on offer.

    I ended up buying - 910D2, 910F, 5-PWAP1s, 50* & 56* wedges.

I did however know that I wanted the 910D2 and also the AP1s prior to my fitting so that is why I went there. In other words, I was not interested in any other brands so that aspect was not a restriction (which it may be to others).

As you do not source the clubs via the fitting centre - there is no sales pitch as such and the process is purely about right clubs, shafts, lofts, grips etc.

There was a 4-6 week lead time on the fitting itself when I booked so you may want to take this into consideration.

All in though - I would definitely recommend.

Not sure on this I'm afraid as I went through my ProShop.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can buy from Carton direct (although I did see some sign about discount for academy members for the D2, so maybe.......)
Your specs are e-mailed to whoever you booked the fit through, local pro, golf shop etc. Fairly sure they'll give you the specs yourself anyway though so you'll know them if/when you decide to buy.

Thanks for the replies- sounds like a good set up.

    How much did it cost?

Also does anyone know if Henry is the only guy who does it?

It was either €50 or €70, can't remember, the invoice was sent to my club pro and he offset it against my account.

Yes, Henry is the only guy who does the fitting out there.

Thanks for this Russman - was this just for Driver or did you get Irons etc?

Just back from Carton, fitted for new driver, 3 wood and wedges. I've been to Foregolf so I can easily say the experience was just as good. The difference is I can choose where I have the clubs built and purchased now, something I was never comfortable with at Foregolf.

    Highly recommend it.

    Good to hear.

Was it Henry who did your fitting?

I am booked in for mid Feb, can't wait.....

Yeah it was Henry alright. Very nice guy and great to deal with.

I had an idea of what I needed but I went in with an open mind. He's the expert so I let the Trackman numbers and his recommendations do the talking.

Did you see much of an improvement over your current driver? spin, carry, distance etc

f22 what did you get? 910 D2 and 910 3 wood? Vokey wedges?

Definite improvement, switched from D2 to D3 head and moved from Proforce Axivcore Tour Black to Tour Red shaft. Ball speed up by 7mph approx and spin rate lowered quite a bit. Carry up about 11 yards, overall distance up about 20 yards I'd say. The dispersion on off center hits was much better.

Same specs on the 3 wood but shortened the shaft slightly and a 79 gram shaft. Interesting as all my other clubs are slightly longer than standard. Felt way more comfortable and the numbers on the 3 wood backed it up.

I have enquired with my club pro for a custom fit, haven't heard from him yet as for a date. Does anyone know do they do saturdays? And roughly how long will I have to wait for an appointment. I'm really only interested in a driver and woods, I'm currently using a Ping G10 stiff proforce V2 shaft, I hit it pretty well though and have it a few years the woods are old Taylormade V Steels, past their sell by date. I have never used the vector and trackman thing before but what they tell on the screen does that really replicate on the course, either way I'm eager to find out.

I'd imagine Saturday would be tough to get. I only booked mine a little over a week ago.

The Trackman shows you exactly what you're doing and can adjust/eliminate wind factor to show you all variants.

Dents a few egos I'd say.

Thanks f22, btw what do they charge? And will they give you the recommendations or just the club.

You pay your pro, €50 or €60 as far as I remember. Specs come back through your pro. You decide where to buy then.

I assume that they'd have a good selection for lefties?
Does anyone know if they do putter fittings also?

I'd presume so on the leftie thing. Judging by the putter selection id be pretty sure they can custom fit those too.

Yes, I'm a lefty and they have more or less everything in lefty.
With the 910 range all they need to carry are the heads, the shafts are interchangeable so you can try anything.

    Thanks.
I'm certainly going to try and get up there. It's a long spin from Cork but from what i've read it would certainly we worth it. As far as putter fitting goes, it's the one club that's used much more than any other but people seldom get fitted for.

Do you get to bring your own clubs and hit some golf balls with those under their watchful eye or is it a case of just turning up with a glove and tell them what new clubs you're interested in?

Sounds like a great service for a reasonable fee. Anyone know why they're limited to Titleist clubs only? Since they supply the specs through your pro and you can buy the clubs anywhere it doesn't sound like the GUI academy is the sole outlet store for Titleist. Pity the GUI academy can't be a stand alone custom fitting venue for all club manufacturers.

Its a Titleist fitting centre, they just happen to be based in Carton House where the GUI Academy also happens to be.

It would be nice alright if the GUI had a fitting centre similar to Foregolf but that might be overkill for the Irish market I guess......

Best to bring your own, otherwise you've nothing to compare to.
They won't shy away from telling you if your own clubs are perfect for you and there's not much point in changing.

Ah right, thanks. That makes more sense but surprised then they don't go the foregolf route and not release any data for the fee forcing you to buy on site at premium prices in order to benefit from the custom fitting. I suppose it is Titleist clubs you would be buying there or elsewhere so it's still custom for Titleist at the end of the day.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask how much would you be paying for a driver fitting only? Also, I read here that the specs are sent back to your pro, I presume you get a copy as well yes? And you can then buy wherever you want?? Cheers for the help, as I'm looking at getting a new driver myself but happy with irons/wedges.

I paid 30 euro. I think mine was on cheap side.

As far as I know you pay for a full slot and it's based off the sterling price of £50. I only wanted a driver and 3 wood but ended up getting my wedges specced too just to have them.

Is £50 and a 1 hour fitting if just for a driver. You can book through any pro and a golf shop if they have a pro working there.

You don't get the specs however you can clearly see what club and shaft you are using when the computer is spiting out the best numbers.

As an FYI, Henry is leaving to work on the Titleist tour truck, not sure if he has gone yet or not.

How do I go about getting fitted for Driver and Irons if I don't have a pro to go though? Well club pro to be precise, can I go to another local pro or shop and get the spec's so I can but when and where it suits?
