I know it's possible to report single posts (I've done it myself many times in the past) but out of interest, is it possible to report whole threads? Like, is there a button similar to the report post button or do you mail a mod or how do you go about it?

No, only single posts. Though you can of course explain in detail in a single reported post, that it's the thread in general that's the issue and not the specific post.
