Anyone get this to work since netflix is in Ireland now? I don't see any logo for netflix and can't find a way to install it.

Edit: forgot to mention I'm on wmc7 64bit

Me either - I found an installer - but it failed @ 55%. I presume it wasn't for a IRL install.

I'll try this tonight. The web interface delivers a picture comparable to analogue broadcast TV, but I'd like the full 10' experience.

is it going to be region related, like the other add ons in 7MC?
i presume this should be picked up automatically like the sky add on (used to be) and the sports add-ons in the US.

probably an announcement from microsoft in the coming days about an official release (lol!!!!!!!)

Any update on this? or at least a workaround?

Apparently, while there is a US plugin, it never launched in Canada and no suitable workaround either. I've given up for now and won't be holding my breath.

I got it working on mine without the download. The following steps will clear ALL channels, guide, recording schedule, etc. And you will need to set it all again, This was done on Windows 7.

    1. Set regional, language & input to English (united states). Reboot
    2. Go to c:\programdata\microsoft\ehome and delete everything there. Reboot
    3. Open MCE and run the express setup. Close MSE again.
    4. Run the following from a command window, "C:\windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -u" and wait for the update to finish.
    5. Open MCE and you should see the netflix tile under movies.

BUT it seems to be hit & miss. Most times when I try to log in its says that netflix is unable to connect to the internet.

In the US at least, you need to install Microsoft Silverlight, you then launch it from Internet Explorer and view movies inside of the web browser.

I guess I need to lurk in the HE Forums for a while while you pats get used to the red tide.

What are you talking about? We are talking about integration with Windows Media Center. Who the hell wants to open up Internet Explorer when they're watching TV!? Actually who the hell uses Internet Explorer!?

Ah. Let me load this thing up and have a crack at it.

And I didnt see the option but poking around the net, try this: go into WMC settings, under General > Automatic Download Options > hit Download Now.

    Wait patiently.

Aaaand that worked for me. You should now see the Internet TV option. Go nuts, be happy. There are several intermediary steps and downloads after that but it's self explanatory by then.

So you don't have an Irish or uk guide then?

I managed to get it to appear in WMC with an alternative method to the one above:

In "Region and Language" in Control Panel I set regional, language & input to English (United States).

Then in regedit I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\ProgramGuide\. I then changed the strCountryCode value to us.

Then I opened up a command prompt and typed start /wait %windir%\ehome\mcupdate -u

Once that was complete I restarted WMC and Netflix appeared. I have no problem logging into it at all however I can't get anything to play properly. When I click on a movie the screen goes black and then the Netflix website opens up in WMC. From there I can play movies but they play in the web based silverlight player instead of the standard WMC interface :(

Did you try reversing the registry change back to eng uk?

I was going to try the various suggestions to get this working but it seems that anyone who did manage to somehow get the netflix icon to appear can't actually reliably watch any content?

I've the same issue with SKY Player, which I believe isn't supported in WMC any longer.

It seems as though WMC is not really being developed, plugin's/apps are being added to the XBox and nearly every other platform but WMC lags way behind. It's a real pity having invested in a Media Centre PC a couple of years ago :(

its a damn shame alright, i use it for live tv only, and have an XBMC shortcut in the menu.
all my tv comes in through dvblink so, im hoping, that when live tv is working properly in XBMC itll be an easy transition.

WMC is a sinking ship and its time to get off. i got 7 good years out of the different variations so i'll be sad to see it go. but in this day and age, people expect an app store type eco system and the locked down nature of WMC has pretty much killed off its support. 5 or 6 years ago when all of these solutions needed a ton of tinkering, WMC had the edge, but now its the one that needs most work for the least payoff :(

Couldn't agree more, 2 years ago you had loads of great add ons available via thegreenButton and MCE Zone but these have gone stagnant. Clearly developers have moved onto more open platforms where there's more market share.

This platform COULD be far better than all of the latest smart TV's and stand alone consoles but it's resigned to a being a sinking ship. If I could get netflix, sky player, youTube and some other music streaming services such as spotify plugged into it then it could still be a real media hub!

My decision while severely hung over one Sunday afternoon 3 years ago to purchase a Sony Vaio TP2/S media center PC with built in blu-ray player for a ridiculous amount of €1400 was probably one of the worst purchases of my life! The Sony Center in Douglas where I bought it from isn't even there any more :(
Yes it looks cool, has been great to be able to easily watch avi's etc - with all the other options around these days I'd be better building a server the attic for storage and some lightweight consoles like AppleTVs or whatever and connect them to the TV's - oh and FINALLY get a proper regular blu-ray player.

    Ok, rant over!
