Had a great experience of buying a vintage ring on ebay. Fiancée adores her ring and it's been valued at way more than I paid for it in a jewellers here at home.

I bought one from diamond heaven, it was fedex'ed over, third of the price here. No problems at all, missus was very happy with it.

Did you not get stung by customs for duty & vat ?

My boyfriend got mine from Diamond Heaven, they are based in Birmingham. It was very frustrating to deal with them. They were great beforehand, answered emails and all questions. They told me they had my ring size in stock and I would have it within a week of paying. Rang and emailed them constantly after the week was up and they keep fobbing me off and never once rang me back. Eventually got the ring after 3 weeks without an apology or an excuse.

Ring is beautiful and got 70% more diamond than buying one here in Galway but their customer service really pissed me off. They have a wedding ring to match my engagement ring about €150 cheaper than I have found here but haven't yet decided if I will buy from them again yet.

Bought mine (hers) on Amazon, cant remember the shop name, paid roughly 1/2 the price i would have in a shop here and got a great deal at the time. Same ring has now gone up by about 40% for some reason :)

I got my fiancee's engagement ring on blue nile a few years ago, and would have no difficulty recommending them based on my experience. Got the ring valued for insurance purposes after we got it, and the valuation was over double what we paid for it so felt like we got a good deal.

Guys have none of you had to pay excise duty or Vat on entry ?

I bought from UK so wasn't an issue, have certainly heard of US imports getting stung for Duty alright though.

    Bought from the UK too.
I know overstock do a lot of rings but not sure on quality or delivery etc and if you'll get stung for customs.

seller ships ring without paperwork with customs value price of 10 dollars then a couple of days sends paperwork so its all a fraud really

Your right, Duty and Vat are due but unlikely to get caught... wait haven't I heard this one before?

We bought from USA jewellers online and got caught through Fedex for customs but we still saved almost €2000 from buying one here!!!

Yes I've done the same but it's a big risk not being able to insure the item in transit.
