So here's my problem, I go wake up my macbook pro and sign in (only account on the laptop along with the guest) and when I'm asked for the password it just shakes. I know for a fact I'm using the right password as I've used the same password on every computer I've ever owned. It couldn't of been anybody else seeing as nobody else knows the password.

I did mess with the Accounts sys. prefs past night, but all I did was take my second name off the name of the account, but at the login screen its still my full name for some reason.

I have apps open that I'm doing work on so I don't really want to turn off the laptop and lose all that data. Anything I can do?

Make sure capslock is off! :D

Failing that you can reset the password from the Recovery HD if you're using Lion or the install DVD if using an older version of OSX. Google for further instructions.

Is the caps lock on or anything?

It sounds to me like you need to restart though due to the changes made to your user account.

You can reset your password using your apple ID, assuming you had one tied to that account.

You can always boot into single user mode to reset your password, here's a guide how to do that: here

Thanks for the replies guys. All that was needed was a restart like Sad Professor said.

I lost a lot of animation work and planning which I needed, but it's a lesson learnt now and life goes on. Cheers.
