Hello All,

I have booked flight in March to Berlin but now I have no hotel booked. I have not been in Berlin before so don't know where to start.

What part of the city?

Alexanderplatz
Kurfurstendamm

???
???

Has anybody suggestions for a hotel and what area?

Budget is €80 per night.

We stayed in the radisson in alexanderplatz in a special offer, half price! Otherwise its crazy expensive. I know that the h2 hotel is a new hotel in alexanderplatz and is getting very good reviews and is cheap enough too.

Aplatz is probably the best place to stay.

As for berlin......its still my favourite city. If you have any interest in history it is a dream. I have a great love for ww2 so it will always be special for me. Outside of the 'war stuff' it is am amazing city. Friendly people, wonderful buildings amd manages to feel cosy amd homely, something that paris lacks hugely. If it was a choice between the two cities it would be berlin every time.

Enjoy your trip!

stayed in an etap hotel (here) near Potsdamer Platz, but there's also one closer to old city center (Alexander Platz)

not luxury but well above Irish budget hotels

Stayed in The Radisson myself. Worth it if you can get a decent enough price on it. Even if you dont stay there, go in and look at the huge fish tank

I'd recommend the Alexanderplatz/Friedrichstrasse area, it's more central than Kufürstendamm and easier to get to and from with the trains

Thank you all but things played a sinister twist with prices and holiday bookings at work.

Ended up getting the 5* Swissotel in Ku'damm with an upgrade within my budget. Quite chuffed with that. ;)

The other hotels within my budget were coming in at Melia which was ok but not the Swissotel and then the Park Inn Alexanderplatz under budget but having 50% of the bathroom in the bedroom with you and tiny rooms didn't bode well with me.

Ku'damm + a number of trips on the U-Bahn for me it is. ;)

Stayed in the Swissotel 4 years ago. Lovely hotel but you will need to escape from it if you want to see some life! U-bahn is great but i recommend the Irish Bar (i know ) in the europa centre just across the road from the hotel....and the dunkin donuts there too!
