    Hi All,
    Thinking of upgrading my gears to ones better suited to the high speed motor I'm running. I've been looking at a few sets and was just wondering if someone could explain the 100:200, 100:300, 13:1 options on these gear sets?
    It might be obvious but it's monday morning and my heads a bit melted so help me out here....

    Those numbers mean your pinion gear (gear on top of the motor) has to rotate 'X' times in order to complete one cycle of the gearbox. The higher that number, the more torque the gears can handle (i.e. for pulling stronger springs). The lower the number, the faster the gearbox will cycle.

    You can get excellent 13:1 SHS gears which have a solid axle, and bearing sector clip as standard. They give very nice results with a G&P M120. What motor are you running at the moment?

    Actually, a G&P M120....

    That's just the answer I was looking for. Thanks a lot.
    As a matter of interest;
    what is the standard ratio?(i know this probably varies gun to gun.... approx)
    What's the difference between a 13:1 high speed gearset and a 100:200 high speed gearset?
    would you replace the gearbox springs with the SHS set or is it unnecesary?

    18:1 is standard, 100:200 is just a higher strength set of gears i.e. a higher speed set of gears made for pulling stronger springs (if I remember correctly that's for pulling >M120 spring). You don't need to worry about changing any springs in the gearbox when replacing the gears :)
