Hi there, I'm trying to find out how to go about/what happens if you drop out of a course mid year if your currently claiming BTEA?

The course is just wrong for me and I'm afraid any sort of a prolonged stay is just going to cause much unneeded stress.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

    Hi,

I dropped out a BTEA course after a week as it knew it just wasn't for me. I explained this to the social welfare office and there was no problem but I hadn't received any BTEA payment. Now obviously you have been there a good bit longer than i was but I can't imagine them kicking up much of a fuss; worst case scenario, they'll make you submit a fresh application for Jobseekers benefit/allowance, and ask you to refund the cost of education (the €500) that you would have got when you started. If you're lucky you might get someone who'll just swap you back to Jobseekers without a new application being necessary.
