Hi there posted this in another section a while back but got more questions than answers??

I'm keeping this short as possible. Theres a car in Cork that i want to buy and get back to Dublin. I cannot drive it on a provisional licence on the motorway. None of my mates or family will help me out. Is there any company and i mean ANY that might transport it back to Dublin?

Ideally i would go down on the train buy the car, truck comes takes it to Dublin and i go back up on the next train or go back in the truck.

Try any of your local car breakdown/recovery companies but I doubt it will be cheap.

Try nvd.ie they are based in Dublin and cork so may be cheap enough.

Why not drive it yourself, not using motorways? RAC has a route planner that allows you to specifically avoid motorways. Here's the route it suggests from Cork to Dublin: http://www.rac.co.uk/route-planner/plot/highways/mi/time/driving/oneway/steps/Cork/Dublin/

Op will also need a full license holder with them for the journey.

Having no full licence driver wouldn't bother me, but having no insurance and very little time/experience behind the wheel would. I wouldn't be confident enough for a long drive like that, i would get lost! :o

Moved to Motors - they'll have more experience there. But basically any driver with a flat bed truck can transport a car.

Having no full licence driver wouldn't bother me,

    It should its illegal.

    Call NVD as already suggested.

    Where in Cork?

If you can get it to a friendly garage, or to Tivoli docks http://crosbietranscar.com/ will bring it up to Dublin.

You'll also need to find somewhere in Dublin for it to be dropped as the 9 car transporters need space to turn around.

NVD gave me a really good price. Waiting to hear back from a few others before making a decision but think it will be hard to beat NVD :)

Unless the op intends on having a licensed driver for every journey once the car gets home, the whole thing is a bit of a joke

On car Transport their is a lot on here that need cars moved so it would be a good idea for a thread going on it like : say car owner A wants a car moved from dublin to galway , car owner B IN Galway wants to send a car to dublin so both can do a deal with Transporter to save money. Good Idea.

i do remember the last thread.

my and corkie had offers open to do it for you.

my offer stays open... im not actually asking for anything in return.

sure if your going down to buy it ya could hitch the train down together (hold hands) and drive it back up on motorways (im fullly licensed otherwise i would not mention it and im fully insured to do so, just swap insurance for a few hours)

but sure there ya go :)

Where yous been serious? ..I taught yous were taking the plss ..why i didn't reply.

Nice one for the offer you probably mean well and no offence when i say this but, its a bit dodgy meeting up with someone you don't know from adam with few grand in your pocket :pac:

NVD said they'll do it for €147 which is very very very good.

Anyway NVD said they'll do it for €147 which is very very very good. Need to find an address for them to collect it but

I assumed Corkie was being serious, but i was too anyway.

And ofcourse i understand how ya mean and all that - just thought i'd save the hassle of spending a good bit of money on transporting - i would've only pulled the train ticket out of ya and maybe a burger :pac:

Generally the lads are quite serious and great to deal with - met a few myself and grand people.

but no problem i do understand where your coming from indeed.

my offer remains open if you require it :)

good luck with the hunt man :)

I may be looking for a lift of a vehicle i may be purchasing without tax or test. I'd be happy paying what nvd quoted the op.
