Could be anything from slipping clutch to a faulty maf sensor....
Is the Eml on..? (engine management lamp)
Get a diagnostic check done and see what fault codes turn up...?

when was the van last serviced. might want a new diesel filter
was the turbo checked. this is the main power in these vans if they start to fail you will lose power
has the van ever refused to start. dirt in the tank causing slow diesel flow not getting enough to give good power as said dirty fuel filter
what the injectors like. friends van did the same injectors were in a bad way needed cleaning van was like it was new after this
cant see it be a malfuction with the van ie.. electrics
anyone been at the diesel pump retarded it to get better diesel consumption but takes from power

thanks loads for your comments , van is not turbo . she is serviced ever 10,000. you could be on to some thing with the dirt in the tank, she has stop before one time she was below 1/4 full so she could have sucked up dirt.whats the story was out the tank the disel filter was changed every service. the disel pump was never cut back she is fine on fuel. thanks loads for your help all the best to all

Has it always been like this since you have had the van or is it something that started happening recently?

Open the bonnet and locate where the accelerator cable operates the lever on top of the injector pump. Then get someone to press the accelerator pedal all the way down while you look at the operation of the lever under the bonnet. Make sure it is moving the lever all the way to the end stop.

i worked on one of these before and on the bottom of the filter in the tank was blocked solid the van would drive grand for a few miles and then stop and it would suck the hand primer in on itself allowing no flow of diesel if you rocked the van it would start for a second then die again also check the lenght of the tube coming down from the pump in tank somtimes these perish and the van cannot suck up the diesel properly causing it to read a quarter full but wont start untill it has atleast half a tank

this is the what you have in the tank of your van
this is from a citreon xantia and caused alot of problems similar to yours

Rossit did u get the problem sorted?? a mate of mine had the same problem with his, he had to leave half an hour earlier to get to work in the morning
It turned out to be the egr valve. Not sure if he cleaned it out or replaced it in the end but shes back to normal now again!!!:D
