    Hi,

I am new to the cycling scene and am unable to get much cycling in during the week. However I do jog during the week. Does jogging help for cycling fitness at all?

I'd be interested to read any replies on this too. I find it very hard to find time to get out on the bike (work, a young child and a pregnant wife) so short blasts of jogging/running are about all I can manage during the week with a spin on the bike some weekends.
I suspect there are big differences in the muscle groups being worked, though the aerobic fitness will certainly help.

its really good actually. I used it all the time from October to December and even then my Thursday training consisted of an hour on the astro I would do this into the season. I always needed to switch over to more specific bike stuff in January.

My week would be rest,Run,Turbo train, Run,Rest,Bike,Bike

do ancircuit and try to go faster on it.n:D

Running is an end in itself.

An old cyclist once told me..
"Running will help your cycling, but cycling wont help your running"

so yes a bit of running will help your cycling, keeps the weight down, aerobic fitness, among other benefits...
Alot of cyclists do a bit of running off season.
Run on grass if possible, theres less shock vibration to the joints.

Alot of these things , you can judge for yourself, if you get a few days jogging in and then do a spin on the bike, do you feel better or worse. If you aint overdone it then Id reckon you will feel better.
