who is doing Communications Studies

I'm applying to the CAO and I'm putting down Journalism at DCU first, then Comm Studies and then Journalism at DIT. Initially I want to do Journalism but the course is 4 years in DIT and I would rather do a 3 year course, that's why I'm choosing Comm Studies as my second choice. I'm just trying to work out what it is…

I'm just trying to work out what it is exactly? Is it similiar to Journlism and could I go in to Journalism havig studied it?

I'm from Ireland but live in London at the minute and want to come back to London in a few years to get a job in fashion writing.
