Can anybody recommend a decent band on the Costa Del Sol. To be honest, I'm not quite sure what we're looking for, but trying to find something without resorting to a wedding planned. I don't think I'll be looking for anybody that sings Irish music specifically, if I google that (or if I were to ask on weddingsonline.ie) the only result is double cocktail, who sound atrocious. I suppose I'm looking for swing/50s music, your typical wedding band. Trying to look on bodas.net and other Spanish websites, but not really having much luck.

if you are basing the opinion of double cocktail purely on some video's of them on youtube, you'll definitely be missing out.

we got married in the Algarve in 2010 and made a point of going out there the year before to have a good look around at potential venues and accommodation.

we hadn't decided on a wedding band at that time, but we'd seen a few video's online and nothing really stood out as being something fit for the day and the pressure was on to get someone booked as everything gets booked up a long way in advance.

whilst we were out there looking at stuff, we had gone for a meal in a restaurant in vilamoura and were enjoying a nice relaxing walk around the marina afterwards when we heard some singing from right across the marina in one of the bars and we decided to wander down and take a look as it seemed like our kind of thing.

i honestly couldn't believe it was the same band and i can hand on heart say that it was an amazing performance and we decided there and then that it was double cocktail or nothing, even to the point where my wife said that she'd move the date of the wedding to get them if we couldn't get them for the day we had already booked.

as it turned out, they were available anyway so we didn't have to move anything around and it all worked out perfectly, but i think that it says a lot about them that my wife was willing to change the date we got married to make sure we could book them.

one of the things that really made them perfect for us is that they don't just sing, they're proper old school entertainers and they have a real knack for creating the right atmosphere and keeping everyone up and dancing, which is essential if you are having a relatively small wedding like we did (50 people).

please don't discount them based on a few youtube video's, they really don't do them justice. if you're planning on going over to your wedding destination (and you should, just to see what's what) then find out from double cocktail when they will be there and make the effort to go and see them perform. i guarantee that you won't be disappointed. :)

don't take my word for it either, head over to the weddings online forum and ask about them there if you want some more opinions.

Hi Kastasia!! You will not find a better band than Double Cocktail! They really are an outstanding wedding band!! I had them at my wedding in the Algarve In October 2009 and it is still fresh in my mind and the memories of the guests. They are all still raving about the band, the wedding planners and the venue! They were so good when you hear them live I also had them sing at my church. Like any wedding band its best to see them in person before you book if at all possible. If not I think you would be mad not to book these guys (You will need to do so well in advance to get your chosen date) They were top class for value and service and really made my wedding special. Best of luck planning your wedding!! Susan-Cork.

Hey Kastasia, hope your wedding plans are going well. Sorry I can't help you with the name of another band. We had double cocktail last Summer. I'm very surprise u thought they wouldn't be great. I highly recommend them. Im into music & had plenty requests which they delivered on. They really made an effort with our guests & we got great feedback! Two couples that were at our wedding booked them for next summer!
Best of luck wit the rest of your prep, it's such a lovely time.

Haha, I saw this thread and thought 'interesting' and then realised it was the one I started!
Well I think I'm going with another band called monkey tennis. Maybe I'm missing out on double cocktail, I know you can't tell anything from youtube, they really did nothing for me. Maybe one day I'll go to a wedding they're doing and wish I'd done it differently, but anyway.
Wen don't know full numbers, but we're probably going to have more people than we initially thought, we're living in Spain so we will probably have a lot of locals too!
