Have you got a colleague from that job who you're still in touch with, who could give a personal reference?

Personally, the only reference I'd ever accept is a telephone conversation with a flesh-and-blood person. Different companies have different policies, though, and some may prefer the paper trail over the freedom to observe the meaning in answers provided.

    Hi thanks for your reply

I have but language barrier could be a prob! they told me it was there policy to only do questionnaire due to having problems before! i dont know how true that is! i also understand its better to speak to another human! but this would be the last 2 years of my career that would be useless??

EDIT: They way it works is you send a list of questions to my employer and they answer and also send a copy of the refrence the gave me!......strange i know!...lol

JustMary has hit it on the head.
    • Email is too easy to fake.
    • HR want to speak with real people for reference checks.
