Can you shoot mink?..........Meaning can they be caught/seen in the open so popped and if so when is the best time to catch them?

Or are they night animals and can only be trapped?

You can shoot them if you are lucky enough to walk up on one or if one passes you while out duck hunting!! I trap them and its the best method i think single entry trap baited with fish and you can use fish oil too.Once caught you can dispatch them with a .22 rifle. Do your gun club have traps or is it just your self that wants to trap them.

depends how hungry they are i have lamped them and shot them during daytime but a shotgun is much more useful than a rifle ,they are inquisitive and afraid of feck all i have a skin of one that decided it was going to try to eat a 16 week old spaniel pup , it chased him 400yrds up the river and into a meal store then it met me ;)

I see them quite regularly in the river here in westport and it's nearly always early morning. I've trapped a couple but it's feckin hard work! Occasionally I see them during the day, but it's a rare occurrence. Good luck and I hope you get a few, the less around the better!
