    Hi,
The problem of Mt Leinster blocking Pressilli in South Leinster has unfortunately been a problem since Saorview began transmissions.
The good news is however that Mt. leinster will change to a new Frequency when analogue ceases in Oct. Dont think there is much you can do till then

OK thanks, from the meter readings would i receive free view OK once mt leinster changes channel next Oct?

Dont honestly know but suspect you would especially if you used a quality aerial+ masthead amplifier. Incidentally, since you only have MPEG2 TV you would only receive SD stations and not any HD. To be able to receive BBC, ITV and CH4 in HD you would a TV or STB marked FREEVIEW HD

Are those meter readings for channel 45 from the Mt. Leinster Saorview signal (ie 'Arq A' is programmed into the meter but the meter is otherwise 'blind' as to where the signal is coming from)? How would this relate to Freeview reception?

Did you try the other Preseli muxes on UHF channels 43, 46, 50 (HD mux),42 & 49?

Also the meter says 'no offset' & to the best of my knowledge, Preseli Arq A mux has a minus offset.

CH45 from Presely is actually offset to roughly 665.833. As mentioned above unless you can physically shelter the aerial from Mt Leinster it is unlikely you will have reliable viewing on that channel. I used to up to a few months back when RTÉNL obviously tweaked something. However 42, 43, 46, 49 and 50 should be fairly reliable with the right aerial setup.
This link may be of interest.

    Ch50 is DVB-T2 HD only

Yes the meter readings must be from mount leinster that would make sense as they seemed very good for a transmitter as far away as preseli,i have tried the other muxes 42 43 46 49 and 50 and i am getting some ok readings back using a cheap contract group b,perhaps a better quality high gain aerial / mast head amp might help,

An adjustable masthead amp will help.

From your pictures the meter readings are for Arqiva muxes A and B which are Freeview.

As said earlier RTE will be moving Mux1(45) to 23 and the Second Mux will be on 26 (instead of 39).

RTENL took the decision following consultation with aerial installers on the ground as Welsh reception in this case has been booming in and affecting Mt Leinster reception in the coastal region.

I am looking forward to C45 being sorted.

A good Group B and a masthead amplifier should be a good help.

That's what the meter thinks (where do you see Arq B?) but how would it know it's not Mt. Leinster?

From the various Network operators and Mux Names being broadcast and displayed by the meter for Preseli in the fourth picture (which looks like a peak hold menu option displaying Arqiva A Mux peak value).

    641.8 MHz SDN
    650.2 MHz BBC A
    665.8 MHz Arqiva A
    674.2 MHz Digital 3&4
    697.8 MHz Arqiva B

Thought all that info was programmed into the meter (Horizon HDTM?) ie you go to 'Preseli' in your tx list & it automatically assumes anything on UHF ch.45 is the Arqiva A mux?

Also Arqiva A from Preseli is using 3/4 FEC.

Yes I understand you can download the data for local mux tx's. But there is also a step through mode in which it displays the Network IDs that it picks up being flagged without a channel list loaded?

I notice that some of the IDs are garbled which would be normal in poor reception areas which made me think as much.

The OP will know how he set up the meter preloaded or not. It might explain issues with false readings.

    Extremely unlikely.

    No.

Freesat HD Receiver is best route.
